What are literary genres?
So confusion takes place when you heard the word genre. Genres are can be considered in the layman’s term as ‘type’. So in case of a book, what are the different genres that can categorize a book?
Academic
Those books use for studies like textbooks or reference books like researches and portfolios
Novels
Those books that are containing stories with multiple conflicts and characters.
Short Stories
A book is a short story if it can be read in a one sitting
Journalistic
Journalistic books are those use in media such as features, news, editorials, etc.
Self-help
Books that are containing advices and life coaching (Rick Warren’s Purpose Driven Life is an example)
Instructional
Books that are teaching you to do something (like recipe)
There are other emerging genres of books out there like graphic novels, manga, and so on.
